Brink

Game Cinematics [Intro]

Summary

Brink, one of the most anticipated games of 2011 is finally here and shooter fans have been blasting their way through the Ark since its release!

Splash Damage's new game, developed in conjunction with Bethesda, is a game of future war. The immersive first-person shooter that blends single-player, co-op, and multiplayer gameplay into one seamless experience, offering a compelling mix of dynamic battlefields, extensive customization options, and an innovative control system.

It centres on the Ark, a model for sustainable living and man-made floating city that became over inhabited when a global environmental crisis struck the world. Sea levels rose and thousands flocked to the Ark as a last hope of survival, but it has since lost contact with what remained of the mainland and now exists in total isolation. As the Ark's supposedly renewable resources dwindle, the balance of power threatens to unravel and as tensions grow Security and Resistance forces lock in a heated battle for control.

"Fight for your side. Fight for your future. Fight For your life. The Revolution begins. Whose side are you on?"

The Mill Gaming team worked closely with game developer Splash Damage to bring soul and character to Brink.  The team developed, shot and created an epic five minutes of cinematics for Brink's in-game movies, and was directed by one of our own, Russell Appleford.

Along with environments from the game world, our 3D animation team were asked to developed two new main characters, Mo-Cap the action and render everything to the expected high visual-bar - all to help draw the player into this immersive and stylish new game.

Russell explains "Brink has a very distinctive visual style so it was really important that we adhered closely to the look and feel of this predefined world. At the start of the project Splash Damage provided us with highly detailed character profiles and concept art for the two faction leaders. The challenge was to then tell as much of this back-story and detail as possible into a series of sixty-second cinematic sequences without things ever feeling cluttered or hurried."

Brink is now available across North America and Europe for the Xbox 360® video game entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, and Games for Windows. For further details check out their site:  http://www.brinkthegame.com.
