Summary
Pretty Polly returns to the big screen with a sassy ad after six years of print-based campaigns. This sumptuously glossy 30-second spot to launch Pretty Polly Love Legs cosmetics screened in cinemas with the love-and-labels movie Sex and the City.
Leading fashion and portrait photographer Rankin and fellow
feature-film director Chris Cottam worked with ad agency BMB and
The Mill to make this contemporary take on Botticelli's Venus.
Accompanied by an operatic soundtrack, a giant powder compact opens
to reveal the shapely legs of a naked beauty. The camera then
subtly tracks her hands languorously applying cosmetics to her body
before she slips into a filmy frock and some killer heels.
Mill colourist Paul Harrison created a lustrous and sumptuous
grade to give the Pretty Polly model a gorgeous golden tan against
a black background, and the whole ad was given a sleek sheen. Lead
Flame artist Judy Roberts ensured it retained its smooth, silky
look even when enlarged on a cinema screen. She removed some
reflections from the compact base and lid before adding a
reflection of the Love Legs cosmetics range.
