The brief was to create a bold and vibrant launch film for the new Fiat 500e. We had to source and combine stock footage, photography, and existing Fiat footage, all while ensuring the final piece felt cohesive and intentional. We were also tasked with expanding upon our design to deliver a social media campaign of bite-sized animations that dove deeper into the unique features of the vehicle. By leveraging existing footage, stock photography, CGI cars, and motion graphics we created a highly editorial and design-centric framework that seamlessly portrays the story of the new Fiat; an all new kind of electric vehicle that is more of a lifestyle than just a car... and it certainly brings the energy.
From an editing perspective it wasn’t about randomly assembling assets—it was about crafting a unified story that embodies Fiat. This took a lot of trial and error, but it also allowed us to get creative and elevate the project beyond the sum of its parts. The strength of our team at The Mill really shone here, as this project required constant interplay between departments. Our editor worked closely with designers who were developing layouts and motion graphics, while C4D artists were simultaneously building and animating the car. It was a massive, cross-disciplinary effort. At the same time, we maintained a consistent visual language by using color chapters to distinguish and unify different sections of the film.
