A love letter to deep friendships and childhood memories, ‘Joy ride’ is Amazon’s touching holiday campaign directed by Wayne McClammy.
“We filmed Joy Ride in two polarizing locations in California. The opening scene was filmed in sunny Downtown LA & the sledding scenes were filmed at 11,000ft on Mammoth Mountain. In downtown the art department did an exceptional job dressing the set with practical snow, giving LA a real taste of winter. This was invaluable when combining the two locations together in post. We were fortunate that there was still snow cover in August in Mammoth, however shooting at altitude had its own challenges. The constantly changing weather conditions meant we had to stop filming at multiple points. The final film has all the ingredients for that desired Christmas feeling. Everyone involved did an excellent job & it was a real pleasure to help bring this festive world to life.”
