In collaboration with Balich Wonder Studio, The Mill designed and developed 14k content for the Milano Cortina 2026 Flag Handover at the 2022 Winter Olympics Closing Ceremony. The content, which appeared during the handing over of the flame to the Italian Olympic Committee aimed to encapsulate the soul of the next Winter Olympic games location - Milano and Cortina.
Our Experience team worked with massive resolutions to create the project (14,880 x 7,248) as the content was to be displayed on the world’s largest LED screen during the ceremony. The creative was hugely influenced by the themes of the city in Milan and nature in Cortina, it went through multiple rounds of feedback, with in-person workshops in both London and Milan to ensure the best possible result was achieved.
With technical constraints due to Covid restrictions and the content taking from 10-12 hours to render, up-res and encode timings were strict so the team also had to ensure that everything was meticulously planned.
Congratulations to all those involved in the ceremony, it was truly an incredible end to an action-packed competition.
